LEVELS OF ANXIETY WITH THE STUDENT COPING MECHANISM CLASS XII SMAN 3 BATAM CENTER IN FACING NATIONAL EXAMINATION

Abstract

Every class XII student who will face a national exam (UN) has a different coping mechanism response. There are positive and negative. Where one negative response is anxiety. To find out anxiety can be seen from the level of anxiety through biological, psychological, sociocultural, behavioral and environmental factors. The purpose of this study is to find out the relationship between anxiety levels and students' coping mechanisms in the face of national exams (UN). Based on the results of a preliminary survey conducted in the field that 14 of the 20 respondents who experienced fear, anxiety, sleep often woke up and were restless. The design of this research is correlative analysis research with cross-sectional approach. Held on April 5, 2017. The sample in this study was a Class XII student of SMAN 3 Batam. The sampling technique uses a random sampling method. Data were collected using a questionnaire. This study was analyzed using the chi-square statistical test. The research results obtained a p-value of 0.001 where p <0.05 means H0 is rejected. So it can be concluded that there is a significant relationship between anxiety levels with coping mechanisms. It is expected that the students of SMAN 3 Batam always study hard and can prepare themselves before the exam so that anxiety is not excessive.
