High blood pressure (hypertension) is one of the diseases that is often found in the elderly. Elderly have applied pharmacological and nonpharmacologic therapies. One of the non-pharmacological therapies that are done is yoga exercise which turns out to reduce blood pressure in the elderly who experience hypertension. The purpose of this study is to know the effect of giving yoga exercises to decrease blood pressure in elderly people with hypertension. The design of this study was pre-experiment with one group pretest-posttest design method, which was carried out on June 11, 2015. The sampling technique in this study used purposive sampling with a total sample of 33 elderly people suffering from hypertension. Data collection tools use observation sheets. The analysis in this study uses a univariate analysis and bivariate analysis (paired-samples T-test). The results of the bivariate analysis obtained the probability value p-value = 0.009 <0.05, meaning that there was an effect of giving yoga exercises to decrease blood pressure in elderly people with hypertension. It is expected that the Rumah Bahagia Kawal management in addition to implementing pharmacological therapy but continues to improve non-pharmacological therapy in overcoming the decrease in blood pressure in elderly people with hypertension so that blood pressure in the elderly is always stable. ÂReferences
