Anxiety in preoperative patients is a problem that often occurs and can affect the process and results of surgical procedures. Therapeutic communication carried out by nurses has an important role in reducing patient anxiety levels. This study aims to analyze the relationship between therapeutic communication carried out by nurses and the patient's anxiety level before surgery. The research method used was quantitative with Cross Sectional, the research sample involved 57 patients who were scheduled to undergo surgery at the Muhammad Sani Karimun Regional General Hospital. Data collection was carried out using a questionnaire that measured the patient's anxiety level and the quality of therapeutic communication received from nurses. The results of the relationship analysis in this study showed that the p value = 0.056 (ρ > 0.05). These results can be interpreted as meaning that there is no moderate relationship between therapeutic communication and pre-operative patient anxiety. Suggestions: there is a need to improve therapeutic communication skills for nurses through ongoing training to ensure better quality of service and a more positive patient experience by providing clear and accurate information. be consistent regarding preoperative procedures to reduce uncertainty that can trigger anxiety.Downloads
