Abstract

This study aims to evaluate the use of wood as a construction material in development, focusing on its advantages, disadvantages, and best practices in management and application. The research methods used include case studies and field observations. Case studies were conducted on several construction projects that used wood as the main material, while field observations were conducted to collect empirical data on the use of wood directly. The results show that wood has great potential as a sustainable and environmentally friendly construction material, with advantages in terms of aesthetics, thermal performance, and low carbon footprint. However, some significant challenges, such as variability in wood quality, special treatment needs, and high maintenance costs, need to be addressed. To maximize the benefits of timber, a holistic and integrated approach is needed, including sustainable forest management, proper timber treatment and storage, adaptive construction design, consistent implementation of quality standards, and increased education and training for all parties involved. This research provides valuable insights for the development of best practices in the sustainable use of wood as a construction material in the future.
