ABSTRACT Background: Back asymmetry is a form of postural imbalance that may affect load distribution on the spine and contribute to low back pain complaints. Objective: This study aimed to determine the relationship between back asymmetry and low back pain complaints among female students of the Women's Dormitory, Faculty of Medicine, Universitas Batam. Methods: This study used an observational analytic design with a cross-sectional approach. A total of 71 respondents were selected using total sampling. Back asymmetry was assessed using the Adam’s Forward Bending Test, while low back pain was measured using the Visual Analog Scale (VAS). The relationship was analyzed using the Chi-Square test. Results: A total of 38 respondents (53.5%) had back asymmetry, while 33 (46.5%) had symmetrical backs. Eighteen respondents (36.6%) experienced low back pain complaints. Among respondents with back asymmetry, 18 (68.4%) experienced low back pain. The Chi-Square test showed a significant relationship between back asymmetry and low back pain complaints (p = 0.000). Conclusion: There was a significant relationship between back asymmetry and low back pain complaints. Keywords: Back Asymmetry, Low Back Pain, Female StudentsDownloads
