Abstract

Background: A cesarean section is a surgical delivery method involving an incision in the uterus and abdominal wall to deliver the fetus. Patients often experience varying degrees of anxiety. One internal factor suspected of influencing this anxiety is maternal age, a measure of biological age. This study aimed to analyze the relationship between maternal age and anxiety levels in patients undergoing their first cesarean section at Budi Kemuliaan Hospital in 2024.. Methods: The study used a quantitative cross-sectional design with a sample of 73 respondents selected through accidental sampling according to inclusion criteria. Data were collected using a questionnaire and analyzed using the Chi-square test. Results: A significant association between maternal age and preoperative anxiety levels was found (p = 0.016). Conclusion: Thus, this study confirms that age plays a significant role in anxiety in patients undergoing their first cesarean section.
