https://ejurnal.univbatam.ac.id/index.php/zonakesehatan/article/view/2306

Background: Low Back Pain (LBP) is one of the most common musculoskeletal disorders among the elderly and is a leading cause of activity limitations. Activity Daily Living (ADL) reflects the elderly's ability to independently perform basic daily activities. A decline in ADL independence can be influenced by low back pain, and conversely, LBP may worsen due to limited physical activity. And determine the relationship between ADL and LBP among elderly patients at Batu Aji and Botania Public Health Centers

Methods: This study employed an analytic design with a cross-sectional approach. The sample comprised all elderly patients at Batu Aji and Botania Public Health Centers who met the inclusion criteria, totaling 44 respondents, selected using a total sampling technique. ADL data were collected using the Barthel Index questionnaire, while LBP was measured using the Roland-Morris Questionnaire (RMQ) and medical diagnosis. Bivariate analysis was performed using the Chi-Square test.

Results: The majority of respondents were aged 60–66 years, female (63.6%), had moderate–severe ADL dependence (63.6%), and experienced minimal–mild low back pain (45.5%). The Chi-Square test showed a significant relationship between ADL and LBP (p-value = 0.015).

Conclusion: There was a significant association between ADL independence levels and the degree of LBP among the elderly at Batu Aji and Botania Public Health Centers. Preventive and rehabilitative efforts, including increasing physical activity, postural education, and functional training, are essential to maintain elderly independence and reduce the impact of LBP.
Mariaman ChanderaLuis YuliaDhaifina Fajria AMuhammad Zulfikar

Background: Typhoid fever is still a public health problem in Indonesia, especially in school-aged children who are vulnerable to infection. The disease is transmitted through contaminated food and drink, and is influenced by factors of sanitation, hygiene, and healthy living behavior. In the working area of Puskesmas Sei Lekop, typhoid fever cases in children, especially those aged 7-12 years show an increase.

Methods: The research design used observational analytics with a case-control approach. The sample consisted of 34 children with typhoid fever (cases) and 34 healthy children (controls) in the Sei Lekop Health Center area. Data were collected using a questionnaire, then analyzed with the chi-square test to test the relationship between risk factors and the incidence of typhoid fever.

Results: The results showed a significant association between the habit of washing hands before eating (p=0.028) OR 3,429 and ice consumption (p=0.025) OR 3,656 with the incidence of typhoid fever in children aged 7-12 years. However, the habit of eating outside the home and consumption of raw vegetables did not have a significant association with the incidence of typhoid fever (p>0.05).

Conclusion: This study concluded that there is a significant relationship between the habit of washing hands before eating and ice consumption with the incidence of typhoid fever in the Sei Lekop Health Center working area.
Sarita MigunaAndi Asda AstiahLiya AnjelinaRifky Al Fariz

Background: The quality of life of patients with chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) often decreases along with disease progression, which is characterized by an increase in the degree of airway obstruction. This decline can affect patients’ physical, psychological, and social functions as a whole. Therefore, monitoring lung function and quality of life is important in the evaluation and planning of long-term management. This study is expected to benefit society by increasing awareness of COPD prevention and management.

Methods: This study employed an analytical observational design with a cross-sectional approach. The sample consisted of 62 COPD outpatients at HJ Bunda Halimah Hospital, selected using a total sampling technique. The degree of airway obstruction was obtained from spirometry results, while patients’ quality of life was measured using the COPD Assessment Test questionnaire. Data were analyzed using the Spearman Rank test to examine the relationship between the two variables.

Results: A significant relationship was found between the degree of pulmonary obstruction and the quality of life in COPD patients (p < 0.05). The more severe the obstruction, the lower the quality of life, as indicated by higher COPD Assessment Test scores.

Conclusion: There was a significant association between the degree of pulmonary obstruction and quality of life in COPD patients. Regular pulmonary function monitoring is essential to track disease progression and optimize patient management.
Mohd Faisal RezaAndi Ipaljri SaputraMalahayati BintangSyntha Alvina Pasma

Background: A cesarean section is a surgical delivery method involving an incision in the uterus and abdominal wall to deliver the fetus. Patients often experience varying degrees of anxiety. One internal factor suspected of influencing this anxiety is maternal age, a measure of biological age. This study aimed to analyze the relationship between maternal age and anxiety levels in patients undergoing their first cesarean section at Budi Kemuliaan Hospital in 2024..

Methods: The study used a quantitative cross-sectional design with a sample of 73 respondents selected through accidental sampling according to inclusion criteria. Data were collected using a questionnaire and analyzed using the Chi-square test.

Results: A significant association between maternal age and preoperative anxiety levels was found (p = 0.016).

Conclusion: Thus, this study confirms that age plays a significant role in anxiety in patients undergoing their first cesarean section.
Kasih PurwatiNopri EsmiraldaRusdaniNadia Salsabila Ritonga
