Abstrak

This research aims to understand the role of the Traffic Unit in preventing accidents against minors in the Barelang Police area, Batam City. This empirical research uses primary and secondary data as well as qualitative analysis to provide clear and easy to understand descriptions The obstacles found in preventing accidents involve children who often drive vehicles recklessly, lack of supervision from parents, and minimal education about traffic among children. Apart from that, low public awareness about the importance of road safety is also a contributing factor to the high number of accidents. The solution proposed by the Barelang Police Traffic Unit includes implementing a traffic safety education program which aims to increase children's knowledge and awareness regarding road rules and safety. Outreach to increase public awareness about the importance of traffic safety is also considered important. In addition, involving parents in road safety education is expected to increase their supervision and understanding of the importance of children's safety when driving. With these steps, it is hoped that the number of trafficaccidents involving minors can be reduced and awareness of road safety can increase significantly in Batam.
