Abstract

This research is based on the phenomenon of infrastructure development, which requires a significant amount of funding. This study will compare the construction costs of roads in Karimun Regency. As one of the regions in the Riau Islands, Karimun has become a growing city economically, making the need for road infrastructure quite essential. The cost comparison analyzed in this study focuses on rigid pavement and flexible pavement construction. Being one of the primary entrance sites to Karimun Regency, highways often receive maintenance from the federal government. We are all aware that road infrastructure is quite expensive. Consequently, in order for the development to have the greatest possible impact on the development of the surrounding region, it is crucial to create roads in accordance with technical specifications that are based on their functions, traffic volumes, and other relevant factors. The results of this study include a cost analysis for each type of construction: rigid pavement costs Rp 18,514,535,278.00, while flexible pavement costs Rp 10,863,750,753.00. The total construction length is 2,410 meters or 2.410 kilometers. Considering the construction costs between rigid and flexible pavements, the use of flexible pavement can save Rp 7,650,784,525.00, or 41% of the construction cost of rigid pavement.
