Abstract

ABSTRACT Background: Soil Transmitted Helminths (STH) are parasitic infections transmitted through soil, commonly affecting elementary school children due to poor hygiene practices. Health promotion is a crucial effort to improve knowledge, attitudes, and behaviors for preventing this infection. Methods: The study used a quasi-experimental design with a pre-post test approach. The population consisted of students from SDN 024 Galang. Total sampling was used, involving 39 samples in each group. The results were analyzed using the Wilcoxon and Mann-whitney statistical test with a significance level of 0.05. Results: The study found a significant influence of health promotion through animated video with poster media on improving respondents' knowledge, attitudes, and behaviors regarding STH (P = 0.000). However, no significant difference was found in the effectiveness between the animated video with poster groups regarding knowledge (P = 0.474), attitudes (P = 0.246), and behaviors (P = 0.727). Conclusion: Health promotion through animated video with poster media significantly improves students' knowledge, attitudes, and behaviors regarding STH prevention. However, there is no meaningful difference in the effectiveness of these two media, indicating that both can be effectively used in health education programs Keywords: Soil Transmitted Helminths, Health promotion, Animation with Poster
