Abstract

ABSTRACT Background: Dengue fever has become a serious global public health challenge. According to the WHO, dengue fever cases have increased over the past five years. With the rising number of cases, prevention efforts are necessary to avoid contracting this disease. Although a vaccine for dengue fever is available, not everyone can access it. An equally effective preventive measure is health promotion, and one medium for health promotion is animated videos. Methods: This study is a quantitative research using a Pre-experimental design (One Group Pretest-Posttest). The statistical test used is the Paired Sample T Test. The sample consists of 92 students. Results: The findings show a significant increase in knowledge. Before watching the animated video, 56.5% of students had poor knowledge, while after watching the video, 60.9% had good knowledge, with a p-value of 0.000 (p<0.05). Conclusion: The results of this study suggest that animated video media can be an effective health promotion tool to improve knowledge of dengue fever among students at SMP Negeri 28 Batam.         Keywords: Health Promotion, Animated Video, Knowledge
