Background: Type 2 diabetes mellitus is increasing, including in Batam City. Self-care is crucial for controlling blood sugar, avoid complications, and improving quality of life. However, many patients still experience difficulties due to limited knowledge, support, and financial resources. Therefore, this study aims to analyze the relationship between self-care and quality of life in patients with type 2 diabetes mellitus at the Tanjung Buntung Community Health Center. Methods: This study used a cross-sectional design and quantitative analysis with a sample of 250 type 2 diabetes patients using purposive sampling. The instruments used were the DSCA and WHOQOL-BREF, and data were analyzed using the Spearman test. Results: There was a significant correlation between self-care and quality of life (p = 0.020). Patients with optimal self-care skills tended to have better disease control, a lower risk of complications, and a longer life expectancy. Conclusion: Self-care impacts the quality of life of patients with type 2 diabetes mellitus. Educational and support programs are needed to improve patient self-care skills.Downloads
