Abstrak

ABSTRACT Background: Acne vulgaris (AV) is a chronic inflammatory condition of the pilosebaceous follicles. Acne can be caused, prevented, or treated with facial skin care. The aim of this research is to determine the relationship between the behavior of using facial skin care and the incidence of acne vulgaris in female students at Batam University. Methods: This research is observational analytic with a cross sectional design. This study used a questionnaire regarding the use of facial skin care and the incidence of acne vulgaris, which was then processed using the SPSS program. Statistical analysis uses the Chi- square test. Results: The research results were obtained from 91 respondents, dominated by respondents who had good skin care behavior, namely 50 respondents. There were 44 respondents who experienced acne vulgaris. A total of 26 (59.1%) respondents had poor skin care behavior while 18 (40.9%) of them had good skin care behavior. There were 47 respondents who did not experience acne vulgaris. A total of 15 (31.9%) respondents had poor skin care behavior while 32 (68.1%) of them had good skin care behavior. There is relationship between facial skincare behavior and the occurrence of acne vulgaris. Conclusion: In this study, the p value obtained from the chisquare test was 0.009, which is <0.05, so that there was a relationship between the behavior of using facial skin care and the incidence of acne vulgaris in female students at Batam University Keywords: Acne Vulgaris, Facial Skin Care, Facial Cleanser
