Abstrak

Background: Breast Self-Examination (BSE) is an important early detection method for breast cancer in women. However, awareness and knowledge about BSE remain low, especially among university students. Health promotion through animated video media is an effective educational method to improve knowledge and attitudes related to BSE. Methods: This study used a pre-experimental design with a pretest-posttest approach. The sample consisted of 65 female students from the Faculty of Medicine, Universitas Batam, selected using purposive sampling. Data were collected using a questionnaire measuring knowledge and attitudes before and after the intervention. Data analysis was conducted using the paired t-test to examine differences before and after the intervention. Results: The analysis showed a p-value of 0.000 for both knowledge and attitude, indicating a significant effect of health promotion using animated video media on knowledge and attitudes related to BSE. Conclusion: Health promotion through animated video media has proven effective in improving students knowledge and attitudes toward breast self-examination (BSE) among female students of the Faculty of Medicine, Universitas Batam.
