Abstract

In the world of projects, be it oil and gas, power plants, petrochemicals or the shipbuilding industry, it is certainly very common and cannot be separated from welding. The basic meaning of welding itself is basically the joining of two materials using a welding arc, where there will be a fusion (fusion) of the two materials to become united and unified. The welding process itself consists of various processes and their uses. Meanwhile, the test implementation also consists of various methods and techniques, be it the results of the weld or the person carrying out the welding. Here the test results have been carried out in the test laboratory using the Charpy impact test method, tensile test. Meanwhile, the body and test site are also ISO and UKAS certified, bodies recognized by national and international oil operators. The background of this final assignment I made is to analyze the use of WPS (Welding Procedure Specification) with Plate S 355J2 material which causes defects in welding that should not have occurred. The purpose of this final assignment I made is also to be able to find and end the cause of welding defects and repair the welding structure itself. The method used by the author is to use several methods that the author has done in previous projects, both in work and with training or training as theoretical knowledge. The results of this final assignment also produce solutions and root causes of the problems faced by the author and practice work in accordance with the procedure. Providing experience in how to practice the implementation of WPS (Welding Procedure Specification) which holds a very important key in the structural construction industry in this offshore module building.
