Abstract

Dysmenorrhea is a common menstrual disorder characterized by abdominal cramping and pain that may interfere with daily activities, particularly among adolescent girls. This study aimed to determine the effectiveness of warm compresses in reducing dysmenorrhea pain intensity among adolescent girls at SMP Negeri 10 Batam. A pre-experimental study using a one-group pretest-posttest design was conducted. The study involved 30 adolescent girls who were recruited through purposive sampling. Pain intensity was assessed before and after the warm compress intervention using a standardized pain scale. The findings demonstrated that the mean dysmenorrhea pain intensity decreased from 3.17 before the intervention to 1.47 after the intervention. Statistical analysis using the Wilcoxon signed-rank test demonstrated a statistically significant difference in pain intensity before and after the intervention (p < 0.001). These findings indicate that warm compresses may be an effective non-pharmacological intervention for alleviating dysmenorrhea pain among adolescent girls.
